2007-08-27 - AME Info | Saudi Arabia | Latest News - Saudi Arabia has started building up a 35,000 strong security force to protect its energy installations from potential attacks, reported the UK's Financial Times. Heightened geopolitical tensions between Iran and the West, as well as ongoing threats to oil plants from Al Qaeda, have led to the implementation of the multi billion dollar initiative and the force already numbers 5,000 personnel. Recruits are being trained by US defence group Lockheed Martin.
