1,000 Saudi schools face uncertain future
2012-02-26 - AMEinfo.com | Saudi Arabia | Latest News - Saudi Arabia: More than 1,000 private schools in Saudi Arabia are facing an uncertain future due non-compliance with the kingdom's Saudization policies, Saudi Gazette has reported. The required percentage of Saudi nationals at private schools is 25%, against the 7% currently recorded by the authorities, investors said. The issue was compounded by the departure of some 70,000 Saudi male and female teachers from private schools for public ones, in addition to orders by the labour ministry requiring girls' and boys' private schools to have separate business registration certificates, which meant these schools could not benefit from having a joint Saudization percentage, said Abdullah Al-Khalaf, a member of the national committee of private education at the Council of Saudi Chambers.
